I don't know what it is, why so many little girls love horses, but I used to be one of them. I drew horses all the time, and dreamt of having my own, and had a horse collection, which I still have to this day, including the one in my left hand in this photo.*
I told my dad once about how much I dreamed of owning and riding my own horse and he, in his dream-analyzing a la Sigmund Freud period told me that my dreams represented sexual intercourse. I was about nine or ten and didn't know what that term meant, but I knew enough to say, "Ew, gross."
*I'm the one in the middle with my cousin on the left and my sister on the right.

I remember my sister had one where you could pull it's mane out longer or make it suck back in and be a regular sized mane.
Love that photo. You girls look like little princesses.
That's the way they are. You must not hold it against them. Children should be very understanding of grown-ups.
Horses and boats are two of the things people are happy to get, and happier to get rid of. Did you ever get your own horse?
Ok, your dad is a blogger and you just linked to him when you referred to him telling you about sex. You delightful Ho! I'm diggin your 70's mini little house on the prairie dress and totally bareback rode my neighbor's horse nearly everyday for two months one summer without any adults knowing. I did get a blanket permission from the owner once, "Can I ride your horse sometime?" To that they said, "Yes," and I rode it whenever I wanted. It was so awesome. Horses are so cool.
Kirby: No, not after I realized how much maintenance and money it takes to actually own a horse. I have a couple friends that are "horse-poor" and decided it wasn't for me. I would own one if money were no object though.
FranIam: That's so funny. I used to sneak down to a neighbor's farm and ride a horse around bareback too, but only it its stall so no one would know since I didn't have permission.
